Greenland has reportedly been diagnosed from Washington.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump announced that a “great” U.S. hospital boat was “on the way!!!” to the Danish territory, declaring that many people there are “sick, and not being taken care of.” The message, posted on Truth Social and signed “President DJT,” credited Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry — now serving as special envoy to Greenland — for helping coordinate the effort.

Specifics regarding the number of patients, the illnesses involved, or whether the Greenlandic government requested assistance were not included in the announcement.

Earlier the same day, Danish forces confirmed they had evacuated a crew member from an American submarine who required urgent medical treatment and was transferred to a hospital in Nuuk. The evacuation was described as routine cooperation between allied forces.

The White House has not publicly elaborated on the scale or purpose of the hospital ship deployment. Denmark has not indicated that its healthcare system requires supplemental maritime reinforcement.

The announcement arrives amid renewed tension over Trump’s long-standing interest in acquiring Greenland. The president has argued that control of the territory is strategically essential for his proposed “Golden Dome” missile defense system and for countering Russian and Chinese influence in the Arctic.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen appeared to respond indirectly, posting that she was “happy to live in a country where there is free and equal access to health for all,” including in Greenland — a statement some interpreted as a subtle reference to differences between healthcare systems.

So the situation currently stands as follows:

A U.S. submarine crew member required evacuation.

Denmark handled the medical transfer.

A hospital ship is reportedly en route.

Greenland has not confirmed a crisis.

Strategic interest continues.

Diplomatic strain persists.

Arctic waters remain cold.

The boat, according to the president, is great.

Whether it is necessary remains under review.
